Selected work across museums, governments and private operations — the record behind the advisory.
Odyssey Marine Exploration collections — Tampa, USA
Collection management in Tampa: systematic inventory and database development, condition surveys, object handling, and exhibition setup across museum-to-museum moves. The scale of that responsibility led to ‘Oasis’ — an operation-wide programme integrating four shipwreck collections and 31,000 artefacts from recovery through curation and display.
Singapore National Collection — Heritage Conservation Centre
Deputy Director of the centralised facility preserving the national collections of nine public museums, directing a staff of 40: preventive conservation, storage and display, disaster planning and guideline development to national standard. Delivered five major exhibitions through cross-institutional partnerships for SG50, Singapore’s 50th anniversary.
SS Gairsoppa — North Atlantic
Conservation planning for the deepest large-scale commercial shipwreck recovery in history: 4,700 metres below the North Atlantic, over 110 tons of silver recovered — more than 99% of the insured cargo.
Balchin’s HMS Victory (1744) — English Channel
Conservation of the first bronze cannon recovered from Admiral Balchin’s flagship, in cooperation with the UK Ministry of Defence — including the only 42-pounder of its type ever recovered. Site monitoring and conservation published.
SS Central America — ‘Ship of Gold’
Object care from the moment of recovery: fragile artefacts brought up from the wreck were processed on board while still at sea — documented, measured and studied, condition-surveyed, given first-aid conservation, and packed for transport. Documentation and condition surveys continued through the collection’s institutional moves.
SGS / ArtTrust Art Services — Shanghai & Beijing
Built SGS Art Services’ third-party forensic examination, condition reporting and inventory services for the Chinese art market — then 39% of the global art trade. Launched a remote art assessment and documentation system; established partnerships with private collectors, shipping and insurance companies.
National Heritage Board — Singapore
Advised the National Heritage Board on the acquisition of new collections for the national museums.
